The strict and formal director Lila Vassiliou has under her orders all the staff of the technical office of which she takes over the management, but at the same time, she is looking to find ways of charm to conquer the lively sub-engineer Alekos Samiotakis.

1941 and the war culminates. The wife of a lieutenant and a sergeant fall madly in love. This film is a social comment of the times, exploring issues that centre around relationships and what was allowed and what was not allowed at the time (early 60s) in Greece. There are sub-plots also, mainly relating to the life of the poor city dwellers, social injustice and seeming double standards. Aliki Vougiouklaki is a poor young girl dreaming of a better life and the "handsome prince on a white stallion" who will deliver her from her miserable existence. She meets and falls in love with a young man (Nikos Kourkoulos) who also falls in love with her, but things are not as simple as they first seem. His past comes to haunt them with tragic consequences. Vassilis Diamantopoulos is excellent as the half-crazed old captain whose life strangely echoes that of young Aliki.

Two pickpockets get involved in a bank robbery organized by an American, at the urging of a colleague. Dissatisfied with the division of the loot, they confess their crime to the priest and the police officer. In the end, the perpetrators are arrested and the poor devils have a chance to earn their bread honestly.

A young actress who is about to star in a play by the writer Palla stays at the home of Pavlos, an actress who was left paralysed shortly before performing in Palla's play "The Red Cloak." The young actress is found murdered, and a police officer conducts a thorough investigation to find the culprit.

After returning from a masquerade, much to his surprise, a wandering textile salesman stumbles upon an abandoned and helpless baby. Will he find his parents--and if not--will the poor child finally find a loving foster family?
