Ted and his gang rob a bank and he hides the loot from his companions. They corner him and fatally wound him, but he manages to slip the map of the hidden money to his rescuer, Joe. The gang catches up with Joe, torture him and introduce him to sexy Rosy, who is to use her undeniable feminine charms on him.

Harry Louis is a jazz clarinetist, obsessed by his art: he would like to match Sidney Bechet; the famous musician tries to give a piece of advice to his fan who, accidentally, kills him in a fit of anger. With the help of his mistress, Muriel, who has witnessed the scene, Harry does away with Bechet's dead body. But, during this gruesome trip, Muriel is accused of being responsible of a road accident. The insurance company sends a young man, Laurent, to investigate.

Paolino, a teacher at an elementary school near Naples, appears nervous for a few days and his friends do not know why. The man is the lover of Assunta, the mother of one of his pupils, and he discovers that she has become pregnant.

Thérèse kills her lover during the very night of her wedding to the count of Vétheul. To gain a night with her, a modest local worker agrees to bury the body.

Laurent meets Louvaine and brings her back to his island.

The only other inhabitants of the castle are a mysterious housekeeper, Caterina, and the demented Aldo. The group are joined by two friends: Serena and a young American medium, Anthony. During a seance Anthony predicts a tragedy, then leaves the castle, shocked by his own visions. An hour later, Serena is found strangled to death in bed. The others become gradually more and more diffident and suspicious, especially when another girl is murdered...
