An inspiring portrait of the life and legacy of Jewish theologian and philosopher, Rabbi Abraham Joshua Heschel. Heschel was one of the most remarkable and inspiring figures of the American 20th Century. He was a mentor to Martin Luther King, Jr and the entire Civil Rights Movement, a leading critic of the Vietnam War, a champion for Soviet Jews, and a pioneer in the work of interfaith dialogue.

One of America's most complex and enduring figures, Thomas Jefferson struggled personally and publicly with an issue that would come to define our nation. Examining the possible relationship between Jefferson and Monticello slave Sally Hemings, the program includes comments from such noted historians as Pulitzer Prize-winner Gordon Wood, former Congresswoman Barbara Jordan, noted Jefferson biographer Merrill Peterson, and others. Featuring the voices of Edward Herrmann, Sissy Spacek, Danny Glover, and Robert Prosky.

Dramatic documentary about the young German pacifist and theologian Dietrich Bonhoeffer who resisted the Nazi regime and was hanged two weeks before World War II was over.

An Ancient Practice Meets the Modern World

Reinhold Niebuhr's Serenity Prayer remains one of the most quoted writings in American literature. Yet Niebuhr's impact was far greater, as presidents and civil rights leaders like Martin Luther King Jr. often turned to Niebuhr's writings for guidance and inspiration on the most volatile political and social issues of the 20th century. Niebuhr rose from a small Midwest church pulpit to become the nation's moral voice - an American conscience -during some of the most defining moments in American history.

In this documentary, historians, politicians and actors (including Danny Glover and Sissy Spacek) try to illuminate the quixotic nature of founding father Thomas Jefferson, focusing on his views about slavery and rumored affair with his slave Sally Hemmings. Though many consider Jefferson America's most influential political logician, his life was a series of paradoxes. Edward Herrmann is featured as the voice of the conflicted aristocrat. [netflix]

The BLUEPRINT is a collection of short features about students and teachers who form an extraordinary network of schools operated by Seventh-day Adventists. From the streets of the Bronx, New York, to an Indian reservation in Arizona – from a riverboat that a century ago dared to teach newly-freed slaves to a modern day oudoor classroom in the Rocky Mountains – each story shows how the “whole child” approach to education – teaching body, mind and spirit – is transforming lives.
