Night, fog, rain. A narrow Masurian road. Speeding trucks. A lonely man behind the wheel of an old car is rushing home to his daughter's concert. He overtakes the trucks, rushing towards his destiny. Despite his advanced age and lack of experience, he takes on the care of the children to enable Ania to go to England for a management course.

The film is a continuation of the 1984 film I died to live. Leopold Wójcik, faking his own death, returns to the underground. Unlike the previous part, the fate of the heroes is a fiction - a variant of events that could have taken place. The film had a sequel: Born for the Third Time (1989).

Then he is invited to an astronomical convention, He becomes the sensation of the conference, not however, as a amateur astronomer, but by guessing the clothing measurements of the delegates. A spy thriller set in 1943 when the Polish Resistance was killing SS- officers and collaborators in Lublin and Zamosc. Polish hitman romances with "officer's lady" while he is setting up her boyfriend for his sentence of death. In the end, he loses out to a collaborator living next door.

Zenon Ziembiewicz, a young, budding journalist, comes to his parents' manor house for a vacation. Here he enters into an affair with the lovely Justyna Bogutówna, the daughter of a cook. When the canicule comes to an end, Zenon packs his bags and leaves for Paris to study. Returning after a year with a doctorate in political science, he makes a fast and glamorous career. He becomes the editor-in-chief of the local newspaper and, soon after, mayor of the city. He also marries Elzbieta Biecka, but still does not break up with Justyna.

Anna is a teacher and her husband Marek is an engineer. They both face moral dilemmas at work: Marek's boss wants him to help get rid of a renowned engineer from their company; Anna refuses to support the false accusation of her student.
