Five Army deserters wander the post-apocalyptic, post-industrial Los Angeles landscape, seeking shelter from an increasingly toxic environment and poisonous rain.

To spice up her ho-hum life, college senior Amy sleeps with Aaron and Dil, her two best friends since the 3rd grade. But her best-laid plans turn their perfect, if predictable, platonic triangle into a tangled web of supercharged emotions.

An important madam is indicted and several of her whores testify in court by illustrating with sex scenes.

Roy is killed by a couple of jewel thieves and then brought back to life and possessed by deceased serial killer "Blade". He returns home and his mother is not very happy to see him as she wants to collect his life insurance policy. Soon, things get out of hand as mom is trying to make sure nobody knows that Roy has "come back" and Blade is trying to let everybody know that he has "come back".

Feeling increasingly trapped, frustrated and alone, middle-aged Los Angeles resident Dee Barnes decides to turn her life (and hopefully the lives of others) around by starting a weekly discussion open to anyone who cares to join. She soon finds her house filled with an assortment of characters, including a bulimic goth, a sexist jerk, and a meek young man who only wants to protect the environment. As they open up to each other with their ideas and feelings, they gradually start to learn more about themselves.

A carjacked mother, and entrepreneur is forced to bond with her violent assailant in order to escape.
