Scholar Qin Kun rescued a giant clam shell from a group of mischievous children, unaware that the shell was actually the true form of the clam spirit, Meiniang. At this moment, Qin Kun was targeted by the female demon of the Yin Wind Cave, his life hanging by a thread. To repay his kindness, the clam spirit offered herself to Qin Kun, becoming his wife. Together, they fought the female demon of the Yin Wind Cave time and again. Ultimately, they joined forces with the Taoist priest of the Upper Qing Palace to eliminate the demon. After accomplishing this feat, the clam spirit retired from her duties. Later, Qin Kun passed the imperial examinations and became an official.

Tien Yua, most well known for being the bad guy in Wang Yu films, especially the One Armed Boxer is the good guy here. Frankie Wei is in it as his rival. This is a rare film.

Hu Te et al. escape the burning Shaolin temple after the Qing soldiers destroyed it in Shaolin Temple. The group of 5 decide to develop secret codes to identify fellow patriots, enlist those patriots and eventually meet up again to escape to the south away from the Qings, and also identify the traitor who sold out Shaolin temple. Ma Fu Yi, joins the Qing top fighters to eliminate the rebels but is exposed by Ma Chao-Tsing who gets captured by Ma Fu Yi. Hu meets up with a group of Shaolin men secretly posing as bandits to rescue Ma as their leader is killed in the process, thus the bandits join the rest of the Shaolin patriots.

During Japan's invasion of China in World War II, two disgraced Japanese soldiers are given a second chance. Facing execution for various infractions, the two men are offered a reprieve if they take a special assignment. Since they can speak Chinese and know the territory, the men are assigned to the task of running a Chinese labor camp the Japanese operate in occupied territory. After the men take over, they work the prisoner's so hard the labor force rises up in revolt of their treatment.
