Leaving his family behind after a conflict with his colleagues, a leading editor at Hungary's state television network travels alone to his country house in the Badacsony region, and reflects on his past, his guilt and the old compromises.

A group of seven friends of different ages and interests meet regularly at Eva's. They have coffee, talk and listen to music. At one of the gatherings, Eva finds a secret agent's badge, "Lookout 123", in the hallway. The accidentally dropped ID card can only belong to one of the members of the party. From that moment on, the film is a continuous chain of private investigations, suspicions, betrayals, deceptions, the fabrication of hypotheses, the chess game of thinking through all the motives that are supposed to be relevant.

Set during the fading glory of the Austro-Hungarian empire, the film tells of the rise and fall of Alfred Redl, an ambitious young officer who proceeds up the ladder to become head of the Secret Police only to become ensnared in political deception.

Benő Karácsony's best-known and most famous novel, The Sunny Side, was written in 1936. Its protagonist is Kázmér Felméri, at first a forced clerk, then a bumbling miller and talented sculptor, who, with his own unique outlook on life, lives his life in the greatest possible inner freedom among the typical characters of his small town in the typical milieu of the time.

1866. The Habsburg monarchy fight a war against the Italians and the Prussians. General Klapka, who emigrated to England after the fall of the 1848-49 freedom fight of Hungary, exploits the situation and organises a Hungarian legion with the help of the Prussians, then attacking the Austrians in their back sets out to return to Hungary.

The story takes place in the Stalinist camps of the 1930s, where the main character, Gleb Nesterov, is trying to escape while they are starving and have no idea who has been captured or why. There is no trace of logic in the camp, although the engineer is obsessed with researching it, as it should be. From one day to the next, Professor Adrián is also captured and interrogated, and they want to extort a confession from him while humiliating him. Moral laws and norms have disappeared here, there is only humiliation, death and starvation.

Sweet Anna is sent as a maid to the Vizys immediately after the fall of the revolution in 1919. Since the death of her daughter, Mrs. Vizyné has devoted all her emotions and energy to the "education" of the servants. Anna is sometimes pampered, sometimes humiliated. Her nephew Jancsika seduces the young girl, who wastes all her repressed love on him. The film is a story of a double journey. The main character of the first journey is the author himself, who, while sitting in his customary café, suddenly realises that he has hallucinations. The psychologist reassures him that all this is merely repression. The symptoms, however, appear again. Soon it turns out that the author has a brain tumour. Professor Pötzl in Vienna suggests operation right away. The intervention, through which he is awake, is carried out in a Stockholm clinic.
