In 2003, the British broadsheet newspaper The Guardian famously declared that ‘dance music was in terminal decline’. Citing the greed of superstar DJs and unimaginative, uninspired music as the reason fans were leaving the genre, it seemed at the time to be the lowest point for dance. Yet out of these ashes rose some of the most seminal dance record labels of today. 2003 was the year in which Toolroom, Size, Cadenza, Ed Banger, Refune, Armada and Buzzin Fly were born. Despite emerging in the toughest year for the music industry, these labels survived and were eventually flourishing in 2013, ten years later. This documentary tells the story of this explosive decade.

Even more than the previous movie 'I AM Hardwell - Living the dream' will let you experience the music. Starting with the 27-year-old Robbert van de Corput, working on new musical ideas in his studio, followed by the mass hysteria in Delhi and unprecedented footage of the 'I AM Hardwell' concert shows where ten thousands of people worldwide shared in the music, passion and energy of what a Hardwell show is all about. It's a gateway into the life of a musical pioneer on the road to accessing the peak of his artistic powers.

Tomorrowland is the largest annual electronic music festival held in the world, taking place in Belgium. It used to be organized as a joint venture by the original founders together with ID&T. The festival takes place in the town of Boom, 16 kilometers south of Antwerp, 32 kilometers north of Brussels, and has been organized since 2005. Tomorrowland has since become one of the most notable global music festivals.

When his debut artist album United We Are came out in 2015 he kicked off his new world tour I AM Hardwell - United We Are at the Ziggo Dome and continued travelling the globe with this brand new show. Spanning 6 continents the tour sold-out shows in Jakarta, Singapore, Bangalore, Mumbai, Lisbon, London, Mexico City, Cape Town, Johannesburg, Tel Aviv, Guatemala City, Manchester, Edinburgh, Belfast, Istanbul, Sao Paulo, Brisbane, Melbourne and Sydney, making I AM Hardwell one of the must see shows over its 19 month period. On the 27th August 2016 the Hockenheimring, one of the most breath-taking venues on the planet, was bathed in the light of electronic dance music. With a 100.000+ crowd the number 1 DJ of the world has set Southern Germany aglow with the biggest light installion of the world!
