The story of a child abandoned at birth who is shunted around from foster family to foster family. A cargo ship embarks on its final voyage of the year to resupply Inuit communities in the far north of Canada. During a storm off the coast of Labrador, the ship’s cook is found murdered in his cabin. With no way to identify the culprit among the twenty crew members, suspicion falls on Alupa, an Inuit mechanic and close friend of the victim. Unfolding in reverse, from the investigation back to the night of the storm and the murder, the film transcends the boundaries of a traditional whodunit to probe deeper questions of race, class, and sexual desire.

Two red-clad women are pursued by an insistent, yet weary stranger. An existential stroll on the nocturnal pavement of a gloomy Montreal, carried by the sounds of punk rock music.

Two recently released prisoners learn to live in a sugar shack deep in the forest.

A couple's impasse is refracted through the world’s great tragedies, and the news of "what is happening in Kosovo”. A tender, indifferent, cynical and bittersweet slice of melodrama.

Living somewhere in present-day Quebec, Boris Malinowski has achieved all his goals. A freethinker, open-minded and proud, he also displays a certain arrogance when it comes to his successes. For some time now, his wife Béatrice, a Canadian government minister, has been bedridden, suffering from a mysterious depression. To escape from his wife’s agony, Boris begins a relationship with a colleague, Helga, and gets close to Klara, a young woman who works as a maid in Boris’s home. The sudden appearance of a stranger in his life forces Boris to come face-to-face with the world, with everything he takes for granted, with all his certainties.
