The year is 2035. Civil war rages in America, poverty at an all time high, but Fannar and Lilja are just going to a dinner party.

Vera is a young woman who has no memories of her mother. Her desperate search for a mother image merges with her own search of self as she inevitably makes an attempt to define the boundary between herself and a mother she never knew.

Vala, a young filmmaker, is working on a documentary about the writer Ragnheiður Jónsdóttir. Vala is editing the film, looking into Ragnheiður's books and examining footage related to her, including an old interview with Ragnheiður that she listens to on video. Ragnheiður's books about Þóra frá Havmmur are particularly dear to Vala's heart, and she imagines scenes and events from the books as if she were Þóra herself. Suddenly, Ragnheiður comes to life on the screen and starts talking to Vála, answering various nagging questions that are on her mind.

Íþróttaálfurinn has managed to change the villagers' negative attitude towards sports, healthy food and all diligence. But when he leaves and the villagers have to manage on their own, they turn out to be very unstable and easily influenced by the criminal Glanni Glæpur, who turns up disguised as a very rich man.
