Priyamani (born Priya Vasudev Mani Iyer) is an Indian actress and former model who works predominantly in Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam, Kannada, and Hindi cinema. Born on June 4, 1984, in Bangalore, Karnataka, into a Tamil-speaking Iyer family hailing from Palakkad, Kerala, to Vasudev Mani Iyer and former national badminton player Latha Mani, she is the first cousin of Bollywood actress Vidya Balan and granddaughter of Carnatic vocalist Kamala Kailas. She completed her schooling at Sri Aurobindo Memorial School and earned a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Bishop Cotton Women's Christian College while actively modeling for print campaigns. She made her acting debut in the Telugu romantic drama *Evare Atagaadu* (2003), followed by her Tamil debut in Bharathiraja's *Kangalal Kaidhu Sei* (2004) and her Malayalam debut in *Sathyam* (2004). Priyamani achieved monumental critical acclaim and pan-Indian stardom with Ameer Sultan's Tamil romantic rural drama *Paruthiveeran* (2007). Her raw, fierce, and emotionally devastating performance as Muthazhagu won her the National Film Award for Best Actress, the Filmfare Award for Best Actress – Tamil, and the Tamil Nadu State Film Award. Over a versatile career spanning more than two decades, she established herself as one of South Indian cinema's finest performers across all four regional industries. Her notable films include S. S.
