This is not just an ordinary story. It contains the teachings of the ancient sages, which are presented through an allegorical narrative combined with philosophy and bhakti. The characters of Rama, Sita, Lakshmana, Bharata, Hanuman and Ravana are integral parts of the cultural consciousness of India.

The play tells about the children, their school affairs, friendship, and relationships with adults. But the most important thing here is the problem of trust in a growing person.

Veronika and Boris come together in Moscow shortly before World War II. Walking along the river, they watch cranes fly overhead, and promise to rendezvous before Boris leaves to fight. Boris misses the meeting and is off to the front lines, while Veronika waits patiently, sending letters faithfully. After her house is bombed, Veronika moves in with Boris' family, into the company of a cousin with his own intentions.

The inveterate fisherman Karp Trofimovich has his birthday during competition of fishermen so his nephew clings a huge pike to the uncle's hook .

A veteran of World War II returns to civil life and the collective farm he once led, only to find his wife has re-married.
