Thomas Donnhofer has worked for many years as a director of the best hotels to earn enough money for his dream: his own horse farm in Austria. As his divorced wife sends her fourteen-year-old daughter Stefanie to him during the holidays, it comes first to conflicts with the father. Stefanie hates the country life. But when Thomas the vet Dr. Meeting Lisa Kern and now thinking about creating a hoard for tortured, unloved animals, Thomas's unruly daughter is finally reconciled. In Vienna, Lotti Portuné, a widow embassy councillor, sees a report on television in which she recognizes her childhood sweetheart Ernst, a skipper on the Elbe. He is still sailing the Elbe on the barge named 'Lotti' in her honor. Lotti doesn't think twice and sets off to visit Ernst. But she had imagined the reunion differently. What was supposed to be just a joyride turns into an escape from creditors who want to chain up the barge.

Eva Habermann plays a bright, young woman who has to choose between two very different men. Miguel Herz-Kestranek embodies the charismatic singer Roman and Gunther Gillian the nature-loving veterinarian Christian. The other roles are brilliantly cast with Christina Plate and Antje Hagen. Master Eder's cousin Ferdinand turns up one day after his death to collect his inheritance. What he doesn't realize is that Pumuckl is also part of his legacy. The goblin soon gets stuck on the glue pot and becomes visible to Ferdinand. He has nothing better to do than tell his nice neighbor about the goblin. This sets off a series of turbulent events that end with the magician couple Magiaro trying to do business with the wondrous little fellow at the circus.
