In a hot Roman summer, the eternal city awaits an invasion of young people for the Vasco Rossi concert. In those days the stories of very young fans of the singer intertwine, two shop assistants and two boys from the township.

A young Italian stops at a filling station on the freeway, and having some time to kill, telephones a friend. He recounts his adventures as a gigolo, but in doing so as a sudden awareness causes him to reconsider certain values that had escaped him, bringing him face-to-face with himself.

Mario, a tram-driver, and Silvio, a banker, make friends in the group of participants in a survival training course.

The study of semantics has convinced Amedio that things only have relative validity, and that everything is changeable. So it seems, because while on an Italian holiday with his family, he conceives the idea that his aging wife should assume the role of his mother, and his daughter, who has an infant son, should assume the role of his wife and lover. His real mother, an elderly invalid, dies just as this conceit begins to take form, and, inexplicably, the women placidly go along with this odd notion for a time, but eventually return to their former roles.

In Perugia, Luca, a lawyer investigates mysterious facts that happened in the city and even got emotionally involved. The rather complicated cases are those of a jealous murderess girl, of a surgeon who kills a colleague who had helped him to face a dangerous intervention to become a woman, of a plumber who is suspected of murdering an heiress while the real guilty is the nephew who would like to take possession of a huge fortune.

Two close friends are uneasily transitioning into their adult lives when they meet a girl at a nightclub. While she is overwhelmed by romantic impulses, the trio gets involved in some risks of the opportunity of doing something illegal.
