Jane Birkin has forged a unique bond with France and the French. Between the small Englishwoman, muse of Gainsbourg, then of Doillon or Chéreau, and her adopted country, love at first sight was immediate and lasted for more than fifty years. This documentary goes back, through the prism of this unique bond, to the life and career of a peculiar artist in the French musical and cinematographic landscape. Ezra Collective has already shaken up the British jazz scene- Now the quintet has arrived on the continent, taking Paris' Ground Control by storm with the exuberance of their second album Where I'm Meant To Be.

Punk is not dead! Anyone who doesn't believe that punk is still alive and kicking in our times should check out the Stranglers' performance at Ground Control. The band released their 18th studio album Dark Matters in 2022. Dark Matters - an ode to darkness? The work was partly written with keyboardist Dave Greenfield, who died of Covid-19 in 2020. But even though it deals with themes such as grief, old age and politics, there is no need to fear gloomy music - on the contrary! The record captivates with the synth sounds and arpeggios typical of the Stranglers, which contributed to the success of their 1981 hit "Golden Brown" from the album La Folie. Their punk attitude is also still present. It is characteristic of the formation, which has been active from its beginnings in London pubs in 1974 to the current line-up with Jean-Jacques Burnel, Baz Warne and Jim Macauley.

Irrepressible French comedian Fadily Camara weaves jokes, vivid characters and physical comedy into a lively stand-up show at La Cigale in Paris.

Tricky, a pioneer of the trip-hop movement, is joined by Marta, a Polish-born singer, for a live performance at Ground Control in Paris in early 2023. The unclassifiable Róisín Murphy shows how difficult it is to pigeonhole her once again at Paris' Ground Control, where she displays all the richness and eclecticism of a discography stretching back to the 90s.

Angel Bat Dawid - one of the great jazz discoveries of recent years as a guest at Chassol in Ground Control. Chicago-native Angel Bat Dawid is one of the many talents tracked down by the US label International Anthem. Together with trumpeter Jaimie Branch and drummer Makaya McCraven, Angel Bat Dawid ensures that the "Windy City" is on the radar for jazz all over the world. The musician switches between vocals, clarinet and piano with amazing ease. But apart from that, Angel Bat Dawid is able to breathe a highly spiritual dimension into her music like no other, so that her jazz almost borders on gospel. Listening to the multi-instrumentalist therefore sometimes has something of a transcendental experience, at times reminiscent of the music of Sun Ra.
