Sumiko Kurishima (栗島すみ子 Kurishima Sumiko) was a Japanese actress and master of traditional Japanese dance. She is often considered Japan's first female movie star.

When she gets rather tipsy, the professor calls Okada, one of his students, to take her home. The wife becomes suspicious of Setsuko when she sees Okada bringing her home.
