Silesian-born Jörg and his friend Andreas return after years to visit their old pals Gienek and Jerzy in an Upper Silesian village - Jörg arrives full with gifts, convinced that life in Poland must still be hard. To his surprise, he discovers that much has changed, and Poland is no longer the poor country he remembered.

Just like the heroes of the film, they decide to form a traveling troupe of singers and comedians, calling it "Our Kara".

The film tells the story of one day at a certain phony plant, where performing even the simplest task, such as starting a new lamp, grows into a big problem.
