Television performances taped for ABC-TV program "Shindig" July 1, 1965 at the ABC Television Center, Hollywood, California. The performances were broadcast July 7, 1965, except for "Who'll Be the Next in Line" (Track 6), which was scheduled for broadcast on September 16, but evidently not used until included on this commercial video release in 1992.

An entire performance of The Kinks' Soap Opera stage show filmed (in black & white) by RCA Records during their 3 night run at the Beacon Theatre, New York City in May 1975. The film was given a brief theatrical run from July 1975 before being pulled.

In Granada TV’s 1974’s Starmaker, head Kink Ray Davies proved once again that he’s not like everybody else, producing a rock opera for television that tells the story of an insufferable, vain, egotistical rock star (played by Davies, naturally) who switches places with an “ordinary person” named Norman, working in Norman’s crappy job and living Norman’s crappy life to find inspiration for his next album. (Well, it’s a little more complicated than that…) Davies’ play reveled in breaking the fourth wall: cameras and microphones are visible throughout and the play’s author/star himself even ends up a member of the audience. Starmaker was a dry run for the themes of the Kinks’ 1975 album, The Kinks Present a Soap Opera.

King, Annie Lennox, Lou Reed, John Fogerty, Mick Jagger, Fergie and others. A 4-hour special of the concerts aired on HBO to high ratings, and was seen by tens of millions. James Slim Harpo Moore and Lovell Casey Gambler met in 1952 while Lovell was waiting for a bus on her way to work and James was putting a roof on a church. The rendezvous' turned out to be the most magical and spiritual event in their lives. It was their destiny.
