Jane Birkin was scheduled to perform at the Olympia in Paris on February 3, 2024. After she passed away on July 16, 2023, her daughters and her friends performed along with her musicians in a tribute concert entitled "Jane Birkin by Friends" for an exceptional performance of "Oh! Pardon tu dormais...", the singer's last concert, on the day that would have been Birkin's concert at the Olympia. Among the performers were Charlotte Gainsbourg, Marion Cotillard, Lou Doillon, Vanessa Paradis and many others. All profits from the concert were donated to French charity Restaurants du Cœur. The concert was later broadcast by Canal+.

This documentary goes behind the scenes at Abbey Road Studios to capture the recording of the Mercury Prize–nominated HELP(2), a 2026 charity album from War Child Records, which aids children in conflict zones around the world. To make the film, Glazer enlisted some crucial help: young schoolkids from London were equipped with their own digital cameras and encouraged to shoot the studio recordings any way they wanted. Their curiosity and creativity are paralleled in footage taken by high-spirited children in war-torn parts of the globe—Gaza, Sudan, Ukraine, Yemen—whom Glazer also supplied with cameras. The resulting film, which Glazer and regular music collaborator Mica Levi have dubbed “by children, for children,” serves as a testament to youthful openness and wonder amidst the evils of the adult world.

They called it young black kids’ punk rock - a genre that radio stations wouldn’t play and records that labels refused to sell. But grime would not be stopped. With machine-gun lyrics that shred the eardrums and syncopated electronics that pound the chest like a sledgehammer, grime was a product of social unrest, urban culture and disenfranchised youth colliding in early 2000s UK. It didn’t just rouse a grassroots audience, however. Today, grime is surging in popularity all over the globe and widely influencing the music charts. This is the story of the genre’s roots.

Filmed across the Festival’s Worthy Farm site at landmarks including the Pyramid Field and the Stone Circle, the event will see a range of artists giving their time to perform in support of the Festival, including Coldplay, Damon Albarn, HAIM, IDLES, Jorja Smith, Kano, Michael Kiwanuka, Wolf Alice, plus DJ Honey Dijon, who will all perform as part of an uninterrupted film production. There will also be a number of unannounced surprise performances.

It’s Glastonbury Festival 1995. The Stone Roses pull out of their headline set after a mountain bike accident and Rod Stewart is unavailable. Last minute replacements, Pulp, take to the stage to face 80,000 people. They deliver a set ‘regarded as one of the best in the festival’s history’ climaxing with the era-defining song, Common People, and in the process catapult themselves to the forefront of the Britpop movement – an achievement that 12 years earlier seemed like an impossible dream.

"Do you remember the first time?" asks the big screen on the main stage, just before Pulp arrive. Many up the front were but a twinkle when Sheffield's finest debuted Common People here, back on this day in 1994 – "Who was here?" questions Jarvis. "Who was born?" Not that it appears to dampen anyone's ardour – and who can blame them, because this is an imperious set, ranging from a perfect F.E.E.L.I.N.G C.A.L.L.E.D L.O.V.E to a glorious Misshapes, its line about "The future that they've got mapped out/ Is nothing left to shout about" sounding more contemporary than ever. Jarvis jumps from towering speaker cabinets, lies horizontal for some athletic hip-thrusting during a torrid This Is Hardcore, and dedicates Joyriders to "the rioters", quipping "they weren't rioting, they were just playing Grand Theft Auto outdoors". Honestly, it's hard to imagine how their reformation could have been handled any better.

Finally, as Britpop declines, he asks what legacy it has left. This smart and often hilarious documentary probes the question with copious interviews from Noel and Liam Gallagher of Oasis, Pulp's Jarvis Cocker, Damon Albarn of Blur, Sleeper's Louise Wener, and many other artists and critics who suddenly found themselves at the cultural forefront.

Inspired by musician and eco-philosopher David Rothenberg's book of the same title, this documentary explores the intriguing, charming, complex and often conflicting theories on why birds sing like they do and why humans are so attracted to the sound. Pulp is the vehicle of geeky English auteur Jarvis Cocker, who formed the band with Sheffield schoolmates in 1978 at the age of 15, but didn't achieve success until the 90s. Before then they tried many different styles, and many different band-members, but with frustratingly similar results - widespread apathy. One exception was Radio 1 DJ John Peel, who granted Pulp a number of live radio sessions - again though, very little caught the public imagination. Eventually signing to Island in the early 90s, it was their major-label debut His 'n' Hers in 1994 that finally saw Pulp breaking into public consciousness. In Cocker they had an enigmatic singer and a sharp, witty lyricist: and new wave pop singles like "Lipgloss" and "Do You Remember The First Time?" were anthemic enough to break the UK charts. At the height of the Britpop craze, Pulp were at the forefront along with Suede, Oasis and Blur. Their follow-up album, 1995's Different Class, was an even bigger...
