When a tired factory worker Christo Panov going home from work gets embroiled with a dispute with a bus driver, leading to threats of assault by the driver, that's bad enough. Then an irate passenger files charges against the driver. After the driver appears on the factory worker's doorstep with his wife and three children, pleading with him not to testify, he easily agrees. However, soon he learns that the woman who brought charges against the driver is now being charged by with slander. No matter what he does, someone will suffer unneccessarily.

The unlikely friendship between a 10-year-old boy, Leonid, recovering from a broken arm in a hospital, and a young, paraplegic actor. As the actor, disillusioned with life, struggles with his condition, he begins to tell Leonid an elaborate and adventurous pirate story. Their shared fantasy world, in which they play the main roles, gradually intertwines with the realities of their hospital life.

Part one of this two-part epic follows the life and deeds of Boris I – a strong historic personality, which completes his mission to the full and at the end of his life receives holy orders.

A gray border, dull village. Time seems to have stopped in this place. The appearance of a beautiful woman breaks the monotonous way of life and challenges the colorless group of men and makes them come out of their shells.

A young journalist comes across interesting report material: talented marine engineer Maria died while on duty. Her story turns out to be quite a puzzle though - people who knew her are not willing to share much. Trying to make them speak, the journalist presents himself as her son. He hopes to dig up the truth about her and spares no effort, ending up at the bureau for investigation. The report he's writing never gets published but his belief system certainly gets challenged.
