At the end of the nineteenth century, an army force led by Major Mouzinho de Albuquerque, a cavalry officer, imprisoned in Mozambique the tribal chief Gungunhana, who had rebelled against Portuguese government and sovereignty. During World War II, during a misty morning, near a fishermen's village, four children come across two RAF pilots ejected from a plane that crashed in the sea.

The story of an old man who does not settle for being abandoned by his own son in a hospital, venturing with the company of a rebellious teenager in a long and troubled way in search of the family, in which will also find a new life.
