John Schuyler, a happily married lawyer, is appointed diplomat and sent to England. Due to an unfortunate accident, his wife and child can not come along with him. On the ship to England, Schuyler meets the notorious Vampire - a relentless gold digger who causes the moral degradation of those she seduces, first fascinating and then draining the very life from her victims.

Lord Edward Litchfield is in love with Beth, a beautiful American girl of modest descent. Lord Edward's father goes to Beth and tells her that if Edward marries her, it will ruin his entire career and, at the same time, be a great shock to her parents. The Perils of Pauline is a motion picture serial shown in weekly installments featuring the actress Pearl White playing the title character. Pauline has often been cited as a famous example of a damsel-in-distress, although viewers will find her character more resourceful and less helpless than the classic 'damsel' stereotype. Nine episodes (from a condensed 1916 re-release) survive to this day.

Newly immigrated from Russia young factory worker Irma loves Alex, and they plan to marry. When he is killed in an explosion a heartbroken Irma finds herself in the family way. Alex’s brother Ivan proposes marriage though it costs him the love of Margaret. Years pass and Ivan becomes successful in business, finding himself in competition with his former employer for a large contract. Margaret, still bitter at being spurned, works with Ivan’s competitor to steal information on his bid for the job. Ivan discovers the plot in time and a race to the state capital ensues between him on a special train and his adversaries in a car alongside. A collision leads to a divisive victory for Ivan who also comes to realize his heart truly belongs to Irma.

Sibling rivalry reaches dangerous heights when Ernesto suspects his wife Teodora of infidelity and his brother Severo, always resentful, fans his flames of jealousy. A series of events escalate to a duel and tragedy for all involved.

Tommasso, he says, throws away his money, such as for a pair of tickets to take Rosa to the opera to see his famed cousin. After the opera, the cousins cross paths in the swanky Galeotto's restaurant, but when neither recognizes the other, Tommasso is generally mocked and Rosa believes him a liar and unworthy. Tommasso must recover his reputation and make a sale, preferably the Caroli bust to his cousin, in order to win Rosa back.

Fedora, a beautiful and elegant woman of Russian society, travels to Paris in search of her fiance's murderer.

Myra Pendleton was sent away to be raised after her mother died in childbirth. Now that she's a young woman, her father wants her to return, but instead of simply welcoming her back, he pretends to be the Pendleton Family attorney, who presents her with a lovely home. Gradually, she learns to love him, and after he assumes the guilt for a murder that she committed, Gismonda confesses to the crime and in the presence of her people makes Almerio her consort.

Hilda and Berta Nordstrom, although identical in appearance, are opposites in temperament. Berta weds naval engineer Robert Hallowell, deserts him in Europe, and travels to the Orient in search of the gay life where she becomes a notorious courtesan known as The Yellow Typhoon.

The Two Brides is a lost 1919 silent film drama produced by Famous Players–Lasky and distributed through Paramount Pictures. It was directed by Edward José and starred Opera singer Lina Cavalieri in her last motion picture. An original story for the screen was written by Alicia Ramsey
