A family finds it difficult to talk about feelings, love or intimacy. Hiring, selling and repairing excavators requires the attention of the family. Everyone has to pitch in. When the daughter has a fatal accident, the family idyll falls apart.

The lives of five teenagers intersect in a Swiss children's hospital. Their names are Benji, Michi, Kevin, Jonas, and Sascha. Four of them have cancer, and one is awaiting his diagnosis. The five ward pirates support each other. Together, they manage to face their uncertain future with courage.
