Twenty-two years later, the locals of Ilha dos Marinheiros (were "Ilha das Flores" has been shot) give their point of view and explain the negative repercussions of the movie on their lives.

Julius is a photographer working as a men's magazine photo retoucher. His wife, Marcia, is a criminal lawyer who defends Teodoro, a squatter accused of murder. For years they had a quiet wedlock. However, Marcia gets involved with her client, and as revenge, Julius sleeps with Ana Maria, a friend of their daughter Guida. From this episode on, their lives are no longer the same.

Rubem, a rideshare driver with no prospects, receives as inheritance the Pérola Motel, which he soon discovers is a dilapidated building. There, he meets Grace, a former employee who had stayed on living in one of the suites after the motel closed. Unable to sell the property and mired in debt, Grace and Rubem join forces to reopen the motel. Almost as a lark and with the help of Nalva, an internet whiz, they begin recording their guests and, to make some extra cash, selling the videos with identities masked to erotic websites. The scheme quickly becomes both lucrative and dangerous.

Canudos was a small village in northeastern Brazil, founded by the messianic leader Antônio Conselheiro and massacred by a powerful army until the death of the last of its 30,000 inhabitants, on October 5, 1897. The film tells the story of the Canudos massacre from an English cannon, nicknamed by the backlands people "A Matadeira", which was transported by twenty teams of oxen through the backlands to fire a single shot.
