Vem Comer Com A Gente: Cozinhas Solidárias
Directed by Thomaz Pedro, the film travels across different regions of the country, following five individuals and their relationships with kitchens. These are the stories of people who cook, eat, work, produce food, connect with others, and organize themselves around these spaces. In Rio de Janeiro, a gig-economy delivery worker finds a place in a kitchen to eat and organize alongside other laborers. In Maceió, an activist cooks while waiting for permanent housing. In Santo André, a mother of four finds food, community, and faith. In Santa Isabel, a small-scale farmer produces food destined for these kitchens. In Porto Alegre, a cook provides a welcoming space for people experiencing homelessness. Established by the Homeless Workers' Movement (MTST) during the Covid-19 pandemic, the first "Solidarity Kitchens" (*Cozinhas Solidárias*) emerged in 2021. By 2023, the initiative had become part of a national public policy aimed at combating hunger.
